  • Kirks Fire Investigation

    This course was designed to allow the department's state certified Investigators maintain their certification. The state requires 40 C.E.U. per year, here you can earn all 40 of the required units. All of the coursework must be completed in the calendar year before December 31.

  • This course is for any H.C.F.S. personnel who have a Ga. state Fire Inspector certification. After completing the course and logging the training hours into Firehouse, the course will satisfy 40 C.E.U. for your state recertification. All work must be completed by December 31 of the year it is started. To get access to the class, contact Captain Heflin.

    FIRE PREVENTION AND INSPECTION

    Description: Emphasis is placed on the shared responsibility of all fire service personnel to prevent fires and fire losses. Topics include: Survey of fire prevention activities, conducting basic fire prevention inspections, Life Safety issues, review of local and state laws regarding fire inspection, and review of applicable Codes and Standards.

    Objectives and National Fire Officer Standards Met/Competency Areas: NFPA 1021, Fire Officer Professional Qualifications, 1997 edition 2-6.1, 3-3.1. 3-5.1 

    Required Texts:

    1.      Fire Prevention Inspection and Code Enforcement, 2nd Edition, Delmar Learning 2003

    2.      NFPA 101 Life Safety Code (Not Required) but helpful
